'Love' by Saint Paul, Love of God and Self-Pity
'Love' has several thousands of meanings to it, but for me, the definition given by Saint Paul is, so far, 'the best.'
Saint Paul, as a gospel writer, has become the most prolific writer in the New Testament with several books to his name.
Divine guidance, enlightenment, vision, discernment and wisdom have been the more prominent among the many gifts he was given by God through the Holy Spirit, and this inspired his many letters complied in books while his long, arduous but fruitful journey towards evangelizing former non believers into Christianity, sometimes with the help of other writers of his time who have been equally blessed.
Having been an acknowledged sinner, a tax collector, and a persecutor of Christians, his complete turn around into becoming one of the great evangelists and gospel writers of all times was amazing and startling.
And it all started when the resurrected Christ appeared before him and called on him to spread the good news and share the light and the love Christ to the world.
His transformation has brought to light the teachings and the words of truth and love in Christ Jesus.

Happy Valentine's Day to you and to all, that we may be guided by Saint Paul's definition of unconditional love as inspired by Christ Jesus, in our love for others.
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not boastful, jealous etc. I forget the entire definition right now, but St. Paul's definition of love is the best in the world. It is completely unconitional and beautiful. Corinthians 13.
Love is in the air as Valentine's Day nears, may we be guided by Saint Paul's definition of love, one that is noble and true, and that which lasts forever as it is forgiving and unconditional, as God has been both loving and forgiving to us, nevertheless, a love with responsibility, accountabiity and with a conscience.
If it is for lust and malice, then it may not be love at all but 'self pity' as it may only promote what is evil, and may not even last, and this what spells deceit.
God knows what is in our mind, praying to him for guidance as we seek his counsel in our love decisions, while submitting ourselves to his love and his will, you may see signs in your life as he may show you the way in his light.
If one claims to have loved, yet has not learned to forgive a sincere heart, then he may not have loved at all.
True Love is more giving and forgiving, not selfish. It is uplifting and noble as it makes one 'whole' and 'true' to his being.
Truly loving our self is in loving God and others. Believing in our self alone may lead us to self-pity.
I remember the song "Love is a many splendored thing," and it was popularized by many a great singers, in their own respectable versions. It tells about the magnificence of love and the beauty of its meaning. But there is nothing compared to the awesome love of God to man. And to express His great love for us, God became man in Christ Jesus, that we too may relate better to our God through Christ Jesus, God's only begotten Son. Jesus was born in a manger that we may see the greater meaning of humility. He lived a simple life being the son of a carpenter, yet, was filled with God's divine wisdom since childhood. He was endowed with divine powers to heal the sick, the blind, the lame, drove away demons and even brought life back to the dead, and he himself rising from the dead and ascending unto heaven that everyone may believe in the forgiveness of sins and in everlasting life which he promises to those who have faith in him, believe in him, trust in him and follow him as the True Messiah. And those who love one another, embodying his greatest commandment, and learns to forgive one another, may have eternal life in them. Jesus also reminds us in Matthew 19:23, as he tells his apostles, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Humility, obedience to God, forgiveness and love of others are key to redemption and salvation. And a camel's traits may be just the same, huh? A camel is not selfish as it willingly serves its master. We may not want to be camels because we are more gifted by God. Why then can we not use all of God's gifts to glorify God by following Christ, and see eternal life in us?
Love is the call in these hard times. Coupled with humility, we can handle any crisis set before us. And with the light of Christ, conquer everything that is evil in this world. Let's continue to pray for redemption and for peace.
"Love is never having to say you're sorry." That's the message in the Oscar award winning movie, Love Story, that made everybody, I think, cry or in tears. Even Ali MacGraw admitted never understood what she was saying to Ryan O'Neil as she uttered those words in the movie. Do you? Well, believing in humility, I bow down to say I am sorry to whom I have offended. And saying this with sincerity frees me with the guilt. Christ need not say I'm sorry because he never offended anyone except the hypocrites, perhaps, in the Pharisees who have worn their own masks of deception, that they may be awakened to the truth in God's words, and be freed from the bondage of sin. But how many Pharisees have turned to Christ? Only a few? Hope more Jewish and other people of different faith open their hearts and spirit to the true Messiah in Christ, and see the joy gains in showing love for others. If I may invite others to the love of Christ, I pray that no one considers that an insult but of love for him as I am offering the love of Christ and the true peace and happiness that his words may bring to any unbeliever's life. Still, in the end, it is man to choose his own fate and destiny, as we will all be judged in accordance to how we have loved God, and that in Christ we may be saved as we share his unconditional love with others.
In John 14:6 (Holy Bible) Jesus said to His apostles, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. Further in John 3:16, Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Living in Christ and with Christ has truly made me see the truth in his words. And the song above helps strengthen my faith and the meaning of the love of God in Christ.
Unconditional love is the message in his definition of love, as inspired by Christ Jesus, who is 'the truth, the way and the life.'

Love between husband and wife may be a lifetime commitment, but the importance of its being a 'forever' love relationship makes it more meaningful because it goes to a higher level 'love' which leads to love for God and everything that God wants us to live in this life, to make him as 'center' in one's marriage so as to ensure that 'living and loving with God' relationship may bring a truly loving couple and their family towards eternal bliss with God in Jesus in heaven.
Difficult to achieve? Don't you think this is precisely what Jesus wants us to do, to love God first, then our family and others as well, surrendering all our hurts and pressures to him as we learn to trust him and his will upon us, not our will, that we may have eternal life in us?
Having just read the Knights of Columbus monthly magazine, Columbia, on 'Gambling with God' by Greg Willis, I kind of relate to him whenever he prays to God for signs and answers, including a deep prayer he asked from God to 'stop' his relationship with his fiance if their marriage was not meant to be. Every time, he found God blessing him while guiding him in every predicament as he learned to pray the "God's will," not his will be done, be it on family, work or other matters.
Amen, I so too believe, and in the power of prayers.
